Takaka to Picton

The the Archway Islands form a dramatic backdrop at Wharariki Beach. The Whale trail cycle path unexpectedly ended so we walk the rail line. A way down the cycle path toward Picton we find our camp site. We did afternoon meditation - in tense (tents). Being next to a rail line there were bound to be trains. Our camp, to the left, had a nice little stream running by under the bridge. Walking out of Blenheim a (different?) train rolls by. Day break by the Polorous River. Our lunch time table with beverage bits all at the ready. A magic river mirror. The sign says it all... Camped at the McKee Memorial Scenic Reserve the moon reaches out to me - just me? The Nelson lights in the distance. The proverbial rock concert. Our spot at McKee Memorial Scenic Reserve. From the top of the Takaka hills looking toward Kaiteriteri. Just south of Takaka the moon sliding behind the hills with the sun beginning to light our valley. A golden sunset over the Takaka River. A small rivulet next to our camp required the addition of stepping stones. The river is clear and bathingly bright. The Waingaro River glides around the corner to join the Takaka River. A wonderful opportunity for a few domestic duties.
