A tidy menu system may evolve but, in the meantime, feel free to explore the range of tabs below.

This is not intended to be extensively definitive but I appreciate that some readers may not have familiarity with Pali so I will add a little to this as various Pali words come up in my writing.

adhiṭṭhānafoundation (of wisdom, truth, etc) a more commonly determination, resolution, will, or self-determination. One of the ten parami (perfections).
kamma: intentional actions that have consequences, both positive and negative.
nibbāna: one term for the final goal of Buddhism. nir + va = to be extinguished or... nir + vana = freedom from desire. There is a lot of information available discussing this on the www
Pali Canon: Tipitaka = 3 baskets. The most complete record of teachings. 1-Vinaya (rules of conduct), 2-Sutta (Discourses), 3-Abhidhamma Pitaka (Higher Teachings; apocryphal).

samma vayama: The 6th factor of the eight-fold path = right effort. It usually refers to the four right efforts (as pairs) in relation to wholesome and unwholesome qualities.
sati sampajañña: mindfulness and clear comprehension. You know, are aware of what you are doing - and why.

A collection of questions from young students. This material dates back from my years at Amaravati monastery, UK. I am still not sure how best to menu-list material and have set this as a separate element from the site - opening in a new page.

Questions & Answers

The Nothing Times... began in 1994 out of family events held at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery, UK. It was seen as a way for those involved in these events – particularly the children, who often lived quite far apart – to maintain a monthly contact. The material was mainly the children’s contributions with each cover looking at a traditional Buddhist theme – by way of an ‘editorial.’ The content was often faint sketches, not very clear in print so not easy to digitise.
